Detoxify

Detoxification is the first step to physical and mental wellbeing. High toxicity in the body is a leading cause of illness. In the body, waste is moved through and eliminated in two ways.
The one most of know about is through the large and small intestines. Often because of long hours of sitting, poor posture, or poor diet, the intestines become blocked, irritated and full. This condition leads to discomfort from gas, acid reflux, or constipation. Often toxins leak from the thin walls of the intestines into the blood that is circulating around them. This toxic blood then moves through the rest of the body, including the brain, where our emotions are created. Depression and irritability can arise due to these conditions. For this reason, it is important to “clean house” on the inside from time to time.

Often people don’t realize that the respiratory system is responsible in large part for our body’s ability to detoxify. The cells in the body are individual organisms that create and excrete their own waste into a lymph sack that surrounds the cell membrane. It is the respiratory system that acts as the pump to move these wastes out of the lymph sack and into the blood where the circulatory system then takes over the process. Many people do not breathe effectively or efficiently and they don’t even know it. Being alive is not the indicator that one is breathing in a way that can most benefit their body.

A. Pranayama – The word pranayama is Sanskrit and derives from the words: Prana –life force or energy, Yama – to direct or control and Ayama – expansion, non-restraint or extension. For our purposes pranayama involves the manipulation of breathing beyond its normal limit, stretching it, slowing it down, and speeding it up in order to experience the full range of respiration on all levels of our being. There are many types of breathing techniques that, with practice, will stimulate profound physiological and psychological changes. You will notice that pranayama, or “yogic breathing” as it is often called, is used in every phase of the Padma Therapy system.

B. Diet -. One approach to eating and living has been around for over 5,000 years, and it is still used today. This approach is known throughout the world as Ayurveda. Ayurveda is the art of daily living in harmony with the laws of nature. The word ayurveda is derived from the Indian Sanskrit root words ayur, meaning life, and veda, meaning science. Ayurveda is an ancient natural wisdom of health and healing. Ayurveda is a profound science of living that encompasses the mind, body, and spirit of the individual and relates them to the life of the universe as a whole. Ayurvedic practitioners maintain that ideal health is achieved when the three fundamental energies, or doshas, in the body are in balance with one another. As part of the Padma Therapy System, clients are given a form to complete to determine if any constitutions, or doshas, are out of balance. This science allows for an individualized approach to diet and living rather than an all-in-one-approach. Many modern diets are not effective for all people because our bodies have individual needs. Ayurveda recognizes this and treats accordingly. If one or more doshas are found to be out of balance, based on responses to the client health form, the methods for balancing the doshas will be given.
C. Asanas - The practice of Yoga Exercises or Asanas can improve your health, increase your resistance, and develop your mental awareness. At each phase of the Padma Therapy System specific postures and exercises will be given to achieve specific goals.

Rebalance

Rebalancing is a process of creating an even, unblocked flow of energies that exist on all levels of the being.
A. Pranayama
B. Psychic Passage – Psychic passage is the directing of a stream of energy which is a combination of awareness, life energy, and breath. Another name for this is Nidra yoga. For those that are not able to do this on their own, Padma will assist with a Tantric yoga technique which is closely related to Reiki and/or guided meditation.
C. Chakras - The word chakra means “wheel”. Chakras are very subtle high energy vortexes which receive cosmic energy and act as transformers to step down or reduce the voltage, so that it can be used by the human body in its various functions. Often improper diet, physical injury or emotional trauma can cause these energy transformers to become out of balance. Thereby adding to further disfunction in the physical or mental systems. As part of the Padma Therapy system the chakras will be brought back into balance if need be.
D. Asanas
E. Meditation - Our lives are very busy and our minds are busy with it. We often forget to be Human Beings because we are too busy being Human Doings. Meditation is anything that can bring one into the present moment and keep him/her there. There are many styles of meditation but the following are some basic beginner suggestions the apply to most every style:

  • Have a goal.
  • Create or find a quite space.
  • Use good posture.
  • Practice rhythmic, diaphragmic breathing in order to calm and clear the mind. The mind must be clear before you go any further.
  • Begin your visualization.
  • Empower the visualization with emotion.
  • Be thankful and surrender the meditation to a higher power.

The Padma Therapy system will offer specific guidance and customized variations to these basics based on each individual’s needs and experience level.

Strengthen

A. Pranayama
B. Asanas
C. Strength Training - Blending in some weight training with your yoga is a great way to balance out your body and your workout routine. We have over 400 muscles in our bodies. As we grow older, it is especially important to maintain muscle strength. Often we are not as active as when we were younger, and muscles tend to weaken. This creates body imbalances that lead to a number of undesirable effects

Maintain

A. Create a Daily Discipline – Padma will customize a daily discipline based on the principles from the system that will fit into your lifestyle.
